Fitbit Manual / User Guide – Fitbit products help people to have healthier lifestyles. These products also inspires people to exercise more and eat better. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States, Fitbit was founded by James Park and Eric Friedman on May 2007.
Eric Friedman is the CTO & Co-founder of Fitbit and James Park is the CEO and Co-Founder. The other team are Woody Scal as Chief Revenue Officer, Hans Hartmann as COO, Tim Roberts as VP, Interactive, Woody Scal as Chief Revenue Officer, and Mark Silverio as Vice President, Sales – North America, Andy missan as VP and general counsel, Tim rosa as VP global marketing, Meena srinivasan as VP finance and Hrm Gareth jones as VP/GM, EMEA sales and Yolanda chan as VP of APAC.
Fitbit is known for its products. Its first product was the Fitbit Tracker, an activity trackers, wireless-enabled wearable devices that measure data from the number of steps walked, the amount of calories burned, sleep quality, to other personal metrics.
Fitbit claims that their users take 43% more steps with Fitbit. The Fitbit Tracker collects activity data automatically while it is worn by the user all day. These data will be uploaded to a website so users will be able to see their data and track their progress toward personal goals.
Users will be able to share their progress and compare it with other people on a motivational interface provided at the website. They can share and compare with their friends, families, relatives so they can achieve their goal. Overall, Fitbit helps people to improve their life by having a healthy lifestyle.
Fitbit explain about who they are on their official website “We’re a passionate team dedicated to health and fitness who are building products that help transform people’s lives. While health can be serious business, we feel it doesn’t have to be. We believe you’re more likely to reach your goals if you’re encouraged to have fun, smile, and feel empowered along the way.”
Fitbit also stated their mission “To empower and inspire you to live a healthier, more active life. We design products and experiences that fit seamlessly into your life so you can achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be.”
The first Fitbit was a small black and teal device. It could be clipped discreetly onto clothing and worn. It tracks steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, activity intensity, and sleep. On October 3, 2011, Fitbit announced the Fitbit Ultra. The device is powered by a small Lithium polymer battery and featured a digital clock visible on the device’s display, a stopwatch to time activities, randomized chatter messages, a custom field to write in a personal greeting. The ultra also has an altimeter that measures elevation gain in terms of floors.
On September 17, 2012, the company announced the Fitbit One and the Fitbit Zip. The Fitbit One is an update to the Fitbit Ultra which has a separate clip, a separate charging cable, wireless sync dongle and uses a more vivid digital display as well as Bluetooth SMART technology. The Fitbit Zip is the first Fitbit product to include a disposable battery but the device only tracks steps taken, distance traveled, and calories burned.
The Fitbit Flex was announced on May 2013. It is a device that one wears on the wrist and is the most water-resistant tracker that can be worn while showering and swimming. The device can track your movement the whole day, including sleep patterns.
On October 10, 2013, Fitbit announced the Fitbit Force. The device tracks a number of statistics in real-time, day and night, from steps taken, distance traveled, to tracking sleep.
On October 2014, the company announced the Fitbit Charge, a replacement for the Fitbit Force. The device was released in November 2014 for US$130 retail.
On October 2014, the company announced the Charge HR and the Fitbit Surge. The Charge HR includes a heart-rate monitor. With this addition it brings the 7 day battery life to 5 days. The Surge is more like a smart-watch than an activity tracker. It will include a heart-rate monitor and the ability to track pace, distance, and elevation. Fitbit products help people to achieve their goal and have a better lifestyle.
