Samsung mobile, one of the world’s largest mobile technology providers, is a South Korean based conglomerate company that includes a number of subsidiaries. We know Samsung’s products well, not only mobile phones and computers but also washing machines, TVs, LCDs, dishwashers and more. Headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, Samsung is the largest South Korean business conglomerate. Samsung means “three stars” in Korean.
Samsung was founded by Byung-Chull Lee in 1938 as a small export business in Taegu, Korea which focused primarily on trade export, selling dried Korean fish, vegetables, and fruit to Manchuria and Beijing. As the company prospered, Lee moved its head office to Seoul in 1947. However he had to leave the city when the Korean War broke out.
After the Korean War, Lee entered other business from Cheil Sugar, textile, banking and insurance enterprises. The company diversifying into paper products, department stores and publishing in 1960’s.
Samsung Began to Rise
Samsung diversifying in industries and electronics in 1970-1979. The company formed several electronics-related divisions, from Samsung Electronics Devices, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Corning, to Samsung Semiconductor & Telecommunications. aAblack-and-white television set was their first product. Samsung also entered textile industry. The company then formed many new companies, including Samsung Heavy Industries Company, Samsung Shipbuilding and Samsung Precision Company .
Byung-Chull Lee, Samsung’s founding Chairman, passed away in 1987. Samsung then had their new Chairman, Kun-Hee Lee, Byung-Chull Lee’s son. Samsung entered the global marketplace during 1980 to1989. Samsung Group was separated into four business groups, Samsung Group, Shinsegae Group, CJ Group, and the Hansol Group.
In 1990’s, Samsung’s construction division had some giants contracts including the Burj Khalifa Tower in the UAE, one of the two Petronas Towers in Malaysia, and Taipei 101 in Taiwan. Samsung has become an international corporation.
Samsung mobile start here. In 1992, Samsung became the world’s second-largest chipmaker after Intel. Many years later the company become the world’s largest manufacturer of liquid-crystal display panels. During the Asian financial crisis in 1997, Samsung survied though it had to sold its Motor division.

Samsung focus on three industries, electronics, engineering, and chemicals during 1993. the company invested in LCD technology and become the largest manufacturer of LCD panels in the world by 2005. Today Samsung Mobile has became one the world’s largest mobile phone maker.
